Benefits of Using Mulch

Guidelines For Applying Mulch

The recommended depth for mulch is 2 – 4 inches.
Keep mulch at least 2 inches back from the trunks of trees and stems of shrubs. Mulch piled up against the trunks will encourage the growth of decay, disease and pests.
At the beginning of the growing season, apply 1 – 2 inches to compensate for decomposition of the mulch and to give it a fresh look.
